Ingredients

  • 1 family-size box brownie mix for a 9×13-inch pan, plus ingredients to prepare
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups corn syrup
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans chopped or whole

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • Prepare the brownie batter according to package directions and pour it into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or 10 minutes less than the full bake time listed on the box.
  • While the brownies bake, whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Stir in the pecans.
  • After the initial bake, remove the brownies from the oven and gently pour the pecan mixture over the top. Spread evenly with a spatula.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25–35 minutes, or until the pecan filling is set but still has a slight jiggle in the center.
  • Let the brownies cool completely at room temperature, about 1 hour.
  • Once cooled, cut into 20 squares. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

If a family-size brownie mix isn’t available, use two standard 8×8-inch brownie mixes and their listed ingredients.
For added texture, combine chopped and whole pecans in the topping.
For cleaner slices, chill the brownies briefly and cut with a sharp knife.
