Ingredients

  • ¾ cup salted butter softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer or using an electric hand mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Scrape the sides of the bowl, then add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until a soft but not sticky dough forms.

Fold in the chocolate chips.

  • Scoop the dough into 1 ½ tablespoon portions (a #40 cookie scoop works well) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, a silicone mat, or an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies have spread and the edges are just starting to turn golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
