Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb bow tie pasta
  • 1 lb mild pork sausage
  • 2 26 oz jars spaghetti sauce
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 lb cooked ham cubed
  • Sliced pepperoni amount as desired
  • 3 8 oz bags shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Rinse under cold water, drain, and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the sausage with diced onions, minced garlic, and oregano until the sausage is browned and the onions are soft. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  • Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and spread a thin layer of spaghetti sauce on the bottom.
  • First layer: Add 1/3 of the cooked pasta. Top with 1/3 of the remaining sauce, one bag of mozzarella, and 2 tbsp Parmesan. Evenly spread the cooked sausage mixture on top.
  • Second layer: Add half of the remaining pasta. Top with half of the remaining sauce, one bag of mozzarella, and 2 tbsp Parmesan. Sprinkle cubed ham evenly over the cheese.
  • Final layer: Add the rest of the pasta, top with the remaining sauce, last bag of mozzarella, remaining Parmesan, and a layer of sliced pepperoni.
  • Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can swap sausage with ground beef or use a mix of both.
Cooked bacon makes a great substitute or addition to the ham.
Store-bought spaghetti sauce works well, but homemade sauce is also a great option.
This makes a large casserole—perfect for freezing half for another meal.
If baking from frozen or thawed, allow for extra baking time to heat through.
