- 1/2 lb bow tie pasta
- 1 lb mild pork sausage
- 2 26 oz jars spaghetti sauce
- 1 large onion diced
- 1 lb cooked ham cubed
- Sliced pepperoni amount as desired
- 3 8 oz bags shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp dried oregano
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Rinse under cold water, drain, and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the sausage with diced onions, minced garlic, and oregano until the sausage is browned and the onions are soft. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and spread a thin layer of spaghetti sauce on the bottom.
First layer: Add 1/3 of the cooked pasta. Top with 1/3 of the remaining sauce, one bag of mozzarella, and 2 tbsp Parmesan. Evenly spread the cooked sausage mixture on top.
Second layer: Add half of the remaining pasta. Top with half of the remaining sauce, one bag of mozzarella, and 2 tbsp Parmesan. Sprinkle cubed ham evenly over the cheese.
Final layer: Add the rest of the pasta, top with the remaining sauce, last bag of mozzarella, remaining Parmesan, and a layer of sliced pepperoni.
Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
You can swap sausage with ground beef or use a mix of both.
Cooked bacon makes a great substitute or addition to the ham.
Store-bought spaghetti sauce works well, but homemade sauce is also a great option.
This makes a large casserole—perfect for freezing half for another meal.
If baking from frozen or thawed, allow for extra baking time to heat through.
